Rev. James H. Hassell Sr.

Rev. James H. Hassell Sr., 96, of Tamaroa, passed away at 5:30 A.M., Monday, March 22, 2004 at his residence.
James was a retired minister with the United Pentecostal Ministry.  He began his ministry in 1928 and retired in 1975.  He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin and United Pentecostal Church International.
He was born May 17, 1907 at Granden, MO, the son of James Robert and Sarah (McCarn) Hassell.
He married Fern Louise Lewis on May 21, 1926 at St. Louis, Missouri and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, six daughters - Betty Jo Farrar of Tamaroa, Doris Marie Fetzer of Montgomery City, MO, Edith Pearl Farrar of Poseyville, IN, Evelyn Jeanette Conklin of Owensville, IN, Brenda Lou Guinn of Hazelwood, MO, and Carolyn Sue Rice of Pinckneyville, one son - Richard Hassell of Mt. Vernon, IN, one brother - Harold Hassell of Maryland Heights, MO, twenty-four grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren and fifty-two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - Clarence and Charles Hassell, one sister - Mildred Lampkin and one grandson.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the First United Pentecostal Church at Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating with other United Pentecostal Clergy assisting.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the church.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
